Care Philosophy

Prof. Sholler believes an important consideration in patient care is understanding how challenging the possibility of heart disease can be for families, including the wider impacts outside immediate medical issues.

Longstanding, expert advice can improve the understanding of the situation for parents and carers, allowing guidance to the best support resources when needed.

As well as his ongoing consulting and hospital clinical work in fetal and childhood heart disease, Prof. Sholler is actively involved in research, publishing over 100 co-authored papers, including over 25 in the past 5 years.

He is currently a key investigator in several major research projects (funded by NHMRC, MRFF, and Additional Ventures – USA). His research interests include complex congenital heart disease, fetal cardiology, cardiac genetics, and the psychological and neurodevelopmental impacts of the care of childhood heart disease.

He is a Clinical Professor in Sydney University Medical School.
